Why is charity so hard to accept?
I found this cute little pictureWhich is sometimes what we do...we need and want help but we refuse help when people offer it.
Why?
I think we are to prideful and want to be independent. But why would you refuse someones help ? Cause when you do you refuse the Saviors help and refusing to let them serve the Lord.
Wow! That would be so sad!
You know when people say "I dont want your charity" I think its because they think its not from the heart and they are just serving them because they have to or just want to get a reward and aren't really having charity cause charity is pure love not doing it because you want to get the glory, like Satan in the premortal realm, that's why Heavenly Father chose Christ cause he felt the love he had for each of us and new his heart was in it!
In an interview with Mother Teresa the interviewer asked why it mattered when she did so much service when she couldn't help everyone and she said something like "It mattered to the one" it does matter to that one person you helped, "And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me! - D&C 18:16
And I dont think this only applies to missionary work I think this also is serving and allowing others to serve you.
Christ was always serving and humble and never thought he was above anyone ...he had love, pure love...Charity!

I love your view!!! That's so cool!!! It's true, though! How people have a really hard time accepting charity! I think it's quite ridiculous! :p
ReplyDeleteThat is so true! I never really thought of Charity as missionary work as well. Thanks for your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteYes, I loved how you applied that scripture to charity because every day we make choices to bring others to Christ or to draw them away by our actions - are we treating our family members in a way that uplifts them (closer to God) or demeans them (away from God)? How great will be our joy if we are taking them to Him!
ReplyDeleteI really love your thought, Rach! I was talking to my friend the other day about excepting help from people and she said, 'I'm fine asking help from people, its more when they offer it that I can't accept it. It makes me feel weak to accept help.' When we are scared to accept help from others, because your are worried they will see you as weak I think it is another form of pride. I wonder why we become scared to accept that help.
ReplyDeletewow! that is the opposite for me. i just can't ask for help, its when they offer it that i can be lie, finally! help at last!
Deletewow! this is really profound! i read it and i was like, wow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Rachel! It is so important to accept help from others, and even more important to accept Christ's help, repentance is one way we can do that.
