This blog is to help us ponder truth as we share our insights and inspirements throughout the week.
Each week will start with a question. You are asked to ponder it, discuss it with your family, and seek evidence for the answer in any of your studies that week. Post your inspirements too!

The Most Important Word

President Spencer W. Kimball said that Remember is the most important word in the English language. This was because when we remember something, we act on it and it determines who we can become. Our actions determine who we are, and they come from our desires, but our desires wouldn't be there and hence we would not act on them if we didn't remember them.

In Hebrew, remembering is actually not simply the act of remembering something, but acting in the present on that memory. Puts a whole new dimension on "always remember Him," doesn't it?

The last few weeks, since I studied this word, I've been praying to remember the things which God would have me do, as well as praying to always remember Him. But because of my study, those statements hold so much more meaning. I have been much better at living the Gospel and not just thinking about the Gospel.

Yep, that's remember! Here's the word study I did on it: http://thewordschool.blogspot.com/2014/11/remember.html

  1. Remember is definitely a really important word, and we see it in the scriptures a ton too. People don't prosper unless they remember God. It's just something we have to learn how to do.

  2. Whoa... "Our actions determine who we are, and they come from our desires, but our desires wouldn't be there and hence we would not act on them if we didn't remember them."

  3. That's interesting, how 'remember' would be he most important word! But if you think about it, it does make sense! If you didn't "remember" to keep the commandments, then what?
