Imagine a world without memories...
What would it be like?
No color...
Would black and white even be there?
No happiness...
No love...
And... would we even live? Without memories, there is no past... there is only present. How does that even work?
Remember.
Remembering can make us smile. Remembering can make us laugh. Remembering can make us cry.
If there is sadness... why would we have memories, or remembering? Wouldn't it be better off without either of them?
"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain." ~ Dolly Parton
"They say there is no light without dark, no good without evil, no male without female, no right without wrong. That nothing can exist if it's direct opposite does not also exist." ~Laurell K. Hamilton
"The light overshadows the dark, because without light there would be no shadow." ~ Dominic Minguzzi
So... this is why we remember!
We remember the good things, we remember the bad things, we need to remember!
And the wonderful thing is...
"Whether or not you choose to keep your covenant to always remember Him, He always remembers you." ~ Henry B. Eyring
How happy is that?!?
Jesus wants us to remember Him, but whether we do or not, he will never give up on us!!!!
"O remember, remember my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world." ~Helaman 5:9
I'm sorry if all of this isn't exactly matching up like I think it is! :) But please try to understand!
There is no good without evil! Even those bad memories... they're only necessary!
So...
We DO have color!
We DO have happiness!
We DO have love!
And most of all... we have Him.
Love,
Gracious
That was beautiful, thank you for sharing that! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of "The Giver," but I'm too tired to think clearly about it. Any thoughts on how that relates?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it for sure has to do with the Giver. If we didn't have rememberance of history, we wouldn't have color or love or happiness. That's what life is like in that book. Since the Giver is the only person who keeps rememberance, everyone else isn't truly happy. And there is no color.
ReplyDeleteDid 'The Giver' have no color? I can't quite remember...
ReplyDeleteBut, thinking about it, it actually does have a lot to do with it!
I was thinking of the giver the whole time I was reading it! Yes, in the giver, the have no memory of the real past, so the don't see any color.
ReplyDeleteI loved the visuals you put on there!
It's interesting to see how you can't have color without absense of it, because there would be no opposition.
I love this post! It was so about the Giver. :) There is so much symbolism in it... Thanks, Gracious! <3
