This blog is to help us ponder truth as we share our insights and inspirements throughout the week.
Each week will start with a question. You are asked to ponder it, discuss it with your family, and seek evidence for the answer in any of your studies that week. Post your inspirements too!

Remembering...

There was something I was going to tell you...but I forgot.   Any of my family or friends knows that this is a phrase that comes out of my mouth rather frequently.  It's something that sort of bugs me about myself, seriously, why do I forget so many things? I think that part of it is because I have a lot of responsibilities in my life, and so my mind is going a million directions all at once. When I was single, and when I was a new mom, I remember thinking, "I don't need to write that or this down, I don't forget things."  That was true then.  When my life was mostly about me, it was much easier to remember things. Then as time went on, I started to find myself having a harder time with each progressing year to keep on top of things.  At one point, or probably several points, Tom told me that I should really organize my time and write things down, so I wouldn't forget.  I tried all the typical things that the world lists as ways to remember things, like this:

or this:

or trying to visual what I want to remember:

And although these things have seemed to help sometimes, they don't seem to work all the time.  And, thanks to Google calendar, I don't forget places I need to be, unless I forget to put them on the calendar.  I did that just this week.  Oops. :(

In doing my word study on remember today, I was reminded of things that I already knew, but in my regular goings about my day, I don't always recollect that I know.  Here are some scriptures that helped me to remember.  :)

Yea, how quick to be lifted up in pride; yea, how quick to boast, and do all manner of that which is iniquity; and how slow are they to remember the Lord their God, and to give ear unto his counsels, yea, how slow to walk in wisdom’s paths  (Helaman 12:5)

Obviously, this one is very clearly the one that we all do as we get caught up in doing things we want to, and when they work out really well, we are tempted to forget that we should remember and thank Him for helping us to succeed.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14: 25-26)

But, this scripture reminds us that if we are living in such a way as to have the Holy Ghost with us, that we WILL be able to remember all things!

Totally testing this theory this week.
